The Director Speaks: Luke Azzopardi, Riccardo Buscarini

In 2024, the opera world celebrates a monumental milestone—the 100th anniversary of Giacomo Puccini’s passing, honouring one of the greatest composers of all time. To mark this centenary, Teatru tal-Opra Aurora will present a groundbreaking production featuring Puccini’s Il Trittico, which comprises the three operas Il Tabarro, Suor Angelica, and Gianni Schicchi in one unforgettable evening. This ambitious event is set to captivate audiences with Puccini’s masterful storytelling and emotional depth.

Building on the success of last year’s creative team, Teatru tal-Opra Aurora has assembled an exceptional group of aesthetic designers including Luke Azzopardi and Riccardo Buscarini, alongside set designer Mike Zerafa. They will offer an illustrated talk, providing insights into how they interpret and bring Puccini’s masterpiece to life through scenes, costumes, and set design. This engaging presentation, conducted in English, will last approximately 45 minutes and promises to offer a fascinating look into the artistic vision behind this landmark production.
