Who You May Have Been – Workshop with Klonn

“The clown or trickster epitomizes the paradox of the human condition and exploits the incongruity that we are creatures of the earth and yet not wholly creatures of the earth in need of clothing and spiritual ideals to clothe our nakedness, of money, and of language – of human institutions. Further, he embodies the fundamental contradiction of our existence: the contradiction between the individual and society, between freedom and constraint.”

(Babcock-Abrahams, 1975)

KLONN’ is the alias/drag persona of multimedia artist Gabriel Chetcuti (he/they). Born and based in Malta, and with a focus on wearable art, their work balances the kitsch, the mythological, and the fanciful – all wrapped into an archetypical fool.

KLONN invites you into the Bored Peach Club art space to explore the latent facets of your identities through this workshop. Guests will be able to sit, chat and simply exist with KLONN for a day, and receive a step by step ‘play’ tutorial on the ins and outs of clown drag makeup.

Participants will be required to bring makeup products of their choosing, these can range from theater/stage makeup to simple drugstore makeup. While makeup wipes will be made available, participants will be required to bring their own cleansing products and brushes.
