Mark Attard aka Kram presents a long-awaited solo exhibition titled “CatLicks”, a playful yet heartfelt exploration of cats set mainly against the textures and rhythms of Maltese life.
Following the 2014 exhibition “People”, which examined human presence and emotion through intimate portraiture and figures, CatLicks marks a spirited new chapter in the artist’s journey — one where the gaze shifts from human stories to the quietly expressive world of cats.
In this collection, the artist captures the feline grace, independence, and curiosity that animate Malta’s unique character filled spaces and endemical whatnots. Each piece reflects a deep affection for the island’s atmosphere — indoors and outdoors.
The title CatLicks is both literal and playful — a nod to the familiar grooming gestures of cats, and to the artist’s own act of “licking” colour onto the canvas: brief, precise, instinctive strokes that build into moments of unusual warmth and presence.
