Gaulitana: A Festival of Music returns, inviting aficionados to immerse themselves in a timeless musical experience.
Defined as “a major festival of classical music” (Musical Opinion UK), the annual springtime festival presents a multifarious programme of concerts and recitals in various localities around Gozo as international and local artists star in an eclectic mix of musical styles. The educational programme GAULearn and an exhibition on Puccini run in parallel as the festival aspires to kindle creativity in a month-long cultural bonanza.
La Bohème highlights the 2024 Gaulitana edition on 20 April, as the festival joins celebrations around the world commemorating the musical legacy of Puccini on his 100th death anniversary. Held as part of the OPERA+ Weekend, the full-scale production of the Italian master’s best-loved opera features an international cast directed by Enrico Castiglione under the baton of Colin Attard.
Gaulitana: A Festival of Music, organised by the Gaulitanus Choir, is principally supported by the Investment in Cultural Organisations – Gozo of Arts Council Malta and the Ministry for Gozo.
Gaulitana runs from 23 March to 21 April. Festival events are free of charge and no reservations are required. Booking for La Bohème is available on www.teatruaurora.com or via the ticket helpline 7904 5779.
