Destination Gozo

Since its inception in 1999, the Gozo Tourism Association has spent a great amount of time, resources in promoting Gozo. We always believed that Gozo had the potential to be marketed as a distinct destination to mainland Malta and that the results that would be obtained would not only be directly beneficial to Gozo but also to the Maltese tourism industry in general.

We achieved this by first and foremost convincing the authorities that we were determined to make a difference. We invested most of the little resources we had into the Association’s first website www.islandofgozo.org, convincing the authorities that we should be present in each fair that Mta participated in and ensured that Gozo was given its due importance.

We are pleased that we went a long way since then. The GTA has achieved a directorship in the MTA board which means that we have are present and our voice is heard in any initiatives or decisions taken on a national level.

As time progressed, our efforts bore fruition. Today, the Gozo Ministry promotes Gozo through the visitgozo website. The MTA ensures that the GTA’s representatives are at par with those of the MTA during the various tourism fairs that we attend, and that various entities within the Gozo’s Ministry have been set up to complement the GTA’s ongoing efforts to promote destination. 

We attend at least ten travel fairs all over Europe every year. While some of these are geared directly towards consumers, others are only for agents and operators which we stay constantly in contact with.

The GTA also published a series of brochures and leaflets and a booklet called Directory of Services which is distributed in every fair abroad. More details about this booklet and other material can be found in the Publications Section. 

Various clips are created from time to time to be used for advertising Gozo on national TV and on our social media pages which we keep updating continuously.  We also take part in various programme and events which all serve to market the island and highlight its potential.
