Rules and Conditions

The Selection Board receives nominations for the ‘Gozo Tourism Awards for the following Awards:

• Tourism Worker of the Year Award
• Young Tourism Worker of the Year Award (under the age of 25 last birthday)
• Entrepreneurship in Gozo Tourism Award
• Cultural Niche Tourism Achievement in Gozo Award
• Business Niche Tourism Achievement in Gozo Award

The Selection Board is composed of a chairperson and three (3) other members.

Objectives of Tourism Worker of the Year Award & Young tourism Worker of the Year Award (under the age of 25 last birthday)

• To acknowledge the service given by the employee during the performance of his/her duties in the Gozitan touristic sector.
• To acknowledge the employee who with his/her performance and his/her qualities was a role model to his collegues.
• To acknowledge the employee who through his/her performance was not only enhancing his/her place of work, but was also instrumental in improving the touristic sector on Gozo.
• To acknowledge the employee who with the performance of his/her duties, was enticing confidence in a career in the tourism sector.
• To reward the employee who has shown innovative and creative skills, through the performance of his/her duties.
• To reward the employee who excelled in the hospitality he/she offered in terms of friendliness, helpfulness and enthusiasm.

Objectives of the Entrepreneurship in Gozo Tourism Award

• To provide recognition to individuals or partners who have demonstrated exceptional skills, creativity, and dedication that have positively impacted the tourism sector in Gozo.
• To create a greater awareness of the role the entrepreneur plays in the Gozitan tourism sector.
• To encourage and inspire others to develop and share their skills within the tourism sector.
• To showcase and share examples of outstanding tourism entrepreneurship skills and achievements.

The criteria for the Gozo Tourism Entrepreneurship Award are categorised in the under listed three areas. The nominee must have made an outstanding and sustained contribution to the tourism sector in Gozo.

Personal Qualities

• Integrity – The nominee’s integrity should be of the highest standard
• Entrepreneurial skills – The nominee should display initiative, innovation, and problem-solving skills.
• Community Contribution – Personal contributions to the wider community, beyond their immediate role, are considered a merit.

Managerial Skills

• Adaptability
  The nominee must have adapted to the changing environment and demands of the respective sector.
  
• Tenacity
  The nominee should have displayed perseverance and tenacity in working towards objectives set.
  
• Leadership Qualities
  The nominee must be someone who has won the respect of his/her subordinates/ employees, and whose actions set an. He/she should be adept at motivating his/her employees.
  
• Productivity & Creativity
  The nominee should have contributed to improving services, experiences, or operations through innovative approaches.
  
• Good Team Relations
  A proven record of fostering positive and cooperative relationships within the working environment.

Contribution to Gozo’s Development

The nominee should have made a positive contribution to Gozo’s development in the touristic, social, cultural, or environmental areas.

Rules of Eligibility

• There is no restriction on sex, age, or race.
• The nominee should be actively involved in a tourism-related activity in Gozo.
• He/she should either be a Maltese citizen or ordinary resident in Gozo and Malta.

Objectives of The Gozo Cultural Niche Tourism Achievement Award

• To identify a community project or event in 2024 that has made an impact on the cultural life of the Island of Gozo and brought forth the Gozitan people closer to the visiting guest and tourist.
• To acknowledge any Gozitan individual or Gozo-based institution/ entity who demonstrated an innovative approach to develop creative initiatives that enhances a particular niche tourism product in Gozo during 2024.  
• To reward any individual or organisation/ entity that promoted the cultural diversity and authenticity of Gozo, through a cultural activity and or project in 2024, that was instrumental in attracting both domestic and foreign visitors to Gozo.
• To commend any large or small-scale events, festivals and or exhibitions that were organised in Gozo over the year 2024, that enhanced the number of visitors to Gozo.

Contribution to Gozo’s Development

The nominee or his/her organisation should have made a positive contribution to Gozo’s tourism development. This includes contributions in the Economic, Social and Cultural areas that in turn augmented the touristic Gozitan offer.

Rules of Eligibility

The nominee or his/her organisation/entity should be involved in the social and cultural related activities operating in Gozo.

If the nominated organization/entity is an NGO, it should prove that it is registered with the Commissioner of Voluntary Organisations or an affiliated member of the NGO’s Association in Gozo

There is no restriction on sex, age, or race.

Objectives of The Gozo Business Niche Tourism Achievement Award

• To acknowledge any Gozitan individual and or business who demonstrated an innovative approach to develop creative initiatives that enhances a particular niche tourism product in Gozo in 2024.  
• To reward an individual or any private business entity that promoted the cultural diversity and authenticity of Gozo through any project/ activity in 2024 that was instrumental in attracting both domestic and foreign visitors to Gozo.
• To highlight positive contributions in the Economic and Social areas that in turn augmented the touristic Gozitan offer.

Contribution to Gozo’s Development

The nominee or his/her establishment should have made a positive contribution to Gozo’s tourism development. This includes contributions in the Economic area that in turn augmented the touristic Gozitan offer.

Rules of Eligibility

• The nominee or his/her business should be involved in the economic and touristic related activities operating in Gozo.
• There is no restriction on sex, age, or race.
